Overview

This online workshop on 'Chairing Boards and Committees' will be led by Marie Collins, Chartered Director (CDir). This workshop is part of the IoD Essentials Workshop Series. 

The chair has a critical influence on a boards or committee’s performance and culture. Whether you are newly appointed or looking to improve your performance with a fresh perspective, this practical workshop will equip you with the essential knowledge and skillset to fulfil your role with confidence and success.

By attending this course, you will gain the knowledge and skills to:

• Understand the role and responsibilities of the chair in successfully leading and chairing a board or committee.
• Develop a high performing board.
• Understand board dynamics and tone from the top.
• Chair an effective board meeting.

Workshop material is prepared by the presenter and produced by the IoD wholly and exclusively for use by workshop participants. Please note that workshop material will be provided in soft copy to all participants.

Marie Collins is a Chartered Director (CDir) and is the course leader on the Governance and Diploma Programme modules of the IoD Chartered Director Programme.

Marie is Chair of Home Building Finance Ireland DAC and of Bank of Ireland’s General Investment Trust DAC. She is a Non-Executive Director of IPUT plc and EcoUnesco clg. Marie is an independent member of the Communications Regulator (ComReg) Audit and Risk Committee. She is a Trustee of Trinity College Dublin Foundation and is the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Marie holds a postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance from UCD and an MBA from Trinity College. She is also a Fellow of The Chartered Governance Institute in the UK.

• IoD members - €225 ex VAT
• Non-members - €275 ex VAT

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Places can only be confirmed on receipt of full payment. Cancellations and a full refund will be accepted if received in writing to training@iodireland.ie by 5pm on Thursday, 3rd March. After 3rd March, no refund will be possible, and all fees will be forfeited in the event of a cancellation or non-attendance.
