IoD Ireland Graduation: Business Leaders Awarded with Distinction in Certificates and Diplomas in Company Direction

The Institute of Directors (IoD) in Ireland hosted its graduations ceremony for business leaders who successfully passed its Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction exams, which constitute part of the IoD’s gold standard Chartered Director Programme.

Last evening, Thursday, 28th September 2023, the Institute of Directors (IoD) in Ireland hosted its graduations ceremony for business leaders who successfully passed its Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction exams, which constitute part of the IoD’s gold standard Chartered Director Programme.

Special recognition was given to IoD member Luke Hanlon, who was awarded the Tom Byrne Award, which recognises excellence in academic achievement as well as individual participation in, contribution to and engagement with the Chartered Director Programme. Tom Byrne was President of IoD Ireland from 2011-2013, and sadly passed away in 2021. 

In addition, special recognition was also granted to seven graduates who achieved the highest marks in the Diploma and Certificate exams. All of these graduates were also gifted with a certified native Irish broadleaf tree from the IoD, each of which will be planted and certified in the graduates’ names by Wolfgang Reforest. Each graduate was presented with a certificate including the coordinates of where the tree is planted in Co. Wicklow. Wolfgang Reforest is a not-for-profit social enterprise, whose mission is to start a movement of citizens and companies planting trees, thereby reforesting Ireland acre by acre.

The seven graduates were:

  • Gary Doyle, Managing Director, Johnston Retail Services
  • Luke Hanlon, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Musgrave
  • Colin Kelly, Head of Corporate Governance and Secretariat, Ulster Bank
  • Caroline Littleton, HR Director
  • Lisa O'Mahony, Head of Advisory & Inspections, Central Bank of Ireland
