Overview

Are you exploring Board positions within the financial services sector? If so, book your place at our next in-person Briefing in The Westbury Hotel, on Thursday, 7th September 2023.

Chaired by Dr Margaret Cullen, Governance Advisor and Board Assessor, IoD Ireland, this session will include a panel of experienced financial services directors. The panel includes: Richard Pike, Director, FBD Insurance; and Yvonne Hill, Non-Executive Director.

 The session will explore the process of building an independent non-executive director (INED) portfolio in the financial services space. The panellists will share their expertise and insights on what these roles entail, the importance of and approach to due diligence, and the changing regulatory landscape for directors of financial service organisations in Ireland. The session will also explore how best to deal with the business pressures associated with being a director of a financial services organisation.

Dr Margaret Cullen is a Governance Advisor with the Institute of Directors (IoD) in Ireland and an experienced Assessor with IoD Ireland’s Board Evaluation Service. Margaret holds a PhD in corporate governance from University College Dublin (UCD). She is a specialist in the areas of corporate, bank and investment fund governance. Margaret serves as a non-executive director on the boards of several organisations and has extensive board and board committee experience. She is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the Fund Boards Council in the UK. 

Richard Pike is Chairman of Citadel Securities Ireland and UK, Senior Independent Director at FBD Insurance plc, Chairman of the Risk & Finance Committee and Non Executive Director at Tuath Housing. He has extensive experience of working with financial institutions and technology companies throughout the world. His expertise is in the areas of Strategy, Technology, Finance, Innovation and Risk Management. He has extensive experience of plc boards and highly regulated industries.

Yvonne Hill is an independent non-executive director and a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland. She has over 30 years’ experience in financial services and is an authorised PCF ( pre-approval controlled function) with the Central Bank of Ireland. Yvonne is currently serving on the Boards of several companies in the insurance and banking sectors. She has extensive experience across the business including outsourcing, corporate governance, risk management and technology implementations.
