Learn the latest economic, property and political trends at this in-person event in the Westbury Hotel, Dublin 2, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Thursday, 8th February 2024.

Guest speakers include Marian Finnegan, Managing Director, Residential and Advisory, Sherry FitzGerald Group, and Jim Power, Economist and Media Commentator and the discussion will be moderated by Nick Mulcahy, Editor - Business Plus Magazine.

The event will address key 2024 domestic and international, economic, and political trends, including the impact of the property market, the upcoming elections of two G7 countries, US and UK, as well as the local and EU elections. The event will provide key insights and experts for members, as well as ample networking opportunities.

Managing Director, Residential and Advisory, Sherry FitzGerald Group

Marian Finnegan is Managing Director of Sherry FitzGerald Residential & Advisory. Marian has been at the forefront of Sherry FitzGerald for over 20 years.  She was the first economist appointed to a property company in Ireland, when she established their Research arm in 1996. Subsequently Marian was appointed Chief Economist and Director of Research for Sherry FitzGerald.  This role involved monitoring and analysing economic and property indicators in the domestic and international markets.

In 1998, Marian joined the board of Sherry FitzGerald Group and in 2019 was appointed Managing Director of Sherry FitzGerald Residential Marian has a unique blend of skills across many areas - people, strategy and leadership. She has helped shape Sherry FitzGerald and understands the property market and our business strategy.  She is a regular contributor in the Irish and international media and one of the most highly regarded commentators in the industry. Marian holds an Master of Arts in Economics.

Jim Power

Jim Power

Economist and Media Commentator

Jim Power has worked as an economist in the private sector for over 35 years. He is owner manager of Jim Power Economics, an economic and financial consultancy, which he set up in 2009. He was previously Treasury Economist at AIB (1987-1991), Chief Economist at Bank of Ireland Group (1992-2000) and Chief Economist Friends First Group (2000 to 2018). He is a board director of Love Irish Food, BMW Financial Services,  and Arboretum Garden Centre. He is a member of the Institute of Directors in Ireland. He successfully completed the Institute of Directors Diploma examinations in Company Direction in 2022.  He teaches on the Executive MBA and the Full-Time MBA at Smurfit Business School, UCD. 

In February 2021, Jim and Chris Johns launched their own Podcast ‘The Other Hand’, which is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other podcasts hosts. He lives in Dublin and is a native of Waterford. He comes from a farming background.
