Exclusive Chartered Director Programme Alumni Event
Join us for our Chairs in Conversation event with Gary McGann, highly experienced Chair and Non-Executive Director. Moderated by IoD Ireland President John Reynolds CDir, you will hear from Gary as he shares his insights, deep expertise, and his thoughts on the governance trends shaping the future.
Gary McGann has extensive experience as both an executive and non-executive director. He currently serves as chair at the privately owned Sicon Ltd (Sisk Group) and Aon Investment Holdings Ireland Ltd, the Irish arm of Aon Plc, a leading global professional services group. Gary also chairs the Luxembourg quoted Polish and CEE online marketplace Allegro.eu SA and in the Not for Profit sector he chairs The Ireland Funds in Ireland and is a director of Barnardos. Gary is also a Senior Advisor and Chairman of Teneo’s Ireland Advisory Board. Prior to these appointments, Gary was Director and Chair of Flutter Plc, whose enterprise value grew from €1Bn to €30Bn during his tenure (2014-2023). Gary has also held various senior executive roles, including CEO of Smurfit Kappa Group Plc and Aer Lingus. Before his time at Aer Lingus, Gary served as CEO at Grand Met Finance and Gilbeys of Ireland. Prior to that, he was a Group Financial Controller at Ericsson Ireland and an Auditor at the Comptroller and Auditor General’s office. Gary has a BA from University College Dublin and a Master’s degree from Trinity College Dublin.

John Reynolds CDir President, IoD Ireland
John is Chairman of Cairn Homes plc. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Computershare Investor Services ( Ireland ) Ltd , the National Concert Hall , a Senior Advisor in Alantra Credit Portfolio Advisors, Ireland and a Director/co-Owner of McGrory's Hotel, Donegal. He is a Patron of Chapter Zero Ireland, the Irish chapter of the Climate Governance Initiative. He was previously Chief Executive of KBC Bank Ireland plc, and was also President of the Banking and Payments Federation Ireland and a member of the board of the European Banking Federation. A native of Culdaff, Co Donegal, he is an economics graduate of Trinity College, Dublin and holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from UCD.
