• An overview of material company law developments in 2023. This includes, the European Union Company Conversions Regulations 2023, CRO Director PPS requirements, Employment and Companies Bill, the Screening of Third Country Transactions Act 2023.
• Likely company law developments in 2024 that should be on a directors' radar, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU) 2022/2464, the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, and the Gender Balance on Boards Directive (2022/2381).

Paul Heffernan is a consultant in the Corporate Knowledge Team in McCann FitzGerald LLP. He was a partner in the corporate group up to 2019 and his practice area included company law and corporate governance related issues. He was member of the IoD legal panel and involved in the publication of all editions to date of the IoD Handbook for Directors.  He regularly contributes to the McCann FitzGerald Factsheets for IoD members.

Dr Margaret Cullen is a Governance Advisor for IoD Ireland, and is a member of the IoD Faculty, where she advises on governance training, research, and advocacy. Margaret holds a PhD in governance from University College Dublin (UCD). She is a specialist in the areas of corporate and investment fund governance. Margaret serves as a non-executive director on the boards of several financial services organisations and has extensive board and board committee experience.
